A bit about me

Whether you're after a funky backbeat, some blazing double bass or a classic 4 on the floor, Jay has you covered.

Hailing from the Wye Valley in the South-West of England Jay Arnold is a 21 year old session musician, composer and educator who’s been playing drums since they could walk. During their time at Bath Spa University Jay was recognised for their virtuosic approach to the drums quickly becoming inundated with work. On top of spending many long hours behind studio glass, over the last 3 years they’ve played more shows than they can count. With bands featuring on line-ups alongside legends such as Strawberry Lace, Continents and The Anchor.

More recently they had the privilege of opening a drum masterclass hosted by Ashley Green (Holding Absence) and Tom Connolly (Dream State, Kid Bookie, Deaf Havana).

Session work

I have spent numerous hours in studios writing and recording drum parts for different bands. I’m well versed in most styles and have a wide vocabulary behind the drum kit.
I can record from my home studio or I can travel. I would love to play on your tracks, get in touch and we can talk.

Countless hours spent writing in Ableton have given me the confidence and experience to write drums for my own projects within a DAW.
Whether you’re after some parts for your drummer to learn or your wanting to use programmed drums in your released tracks I can help you out. Contact me for a quote! (avg. £70 for a song around 4 minutes)

teaching

DBS certified and qualified up to grade 8, I have plenty of knowledge to share with experience in styles ranging from Funk and Indie to Heavy Metal.
I can take lessons in-person or online providing you have a stable internet connection. My current rates are £35/hour, £20 for 30 minutes.
